Géopolitique

Géopolitique, or geopolitics in English, refers to the study of the effects of geography (human and physical) on international politics and international relations. It examines how geographic factors, such as location, resources, and physical terrain, influence political power dynamics, state interactions, and strategic decisions. Geopolitics considers the impact of geographical realities on global affairs, including conflict, diplomacy, and economic relationships, and it often analyzes how states leverage their geographic position for political advantage. The term also encompasses the strategic considerations stemming from spatial relationships and territorial disputes, as well as the way physical geography shapes national interests and security policies. Geopolitics plays a crucial role in understanding global power structures and the motivations behind state behavior on the world stage.
