Moyen-Orient

The “Moyen-Orient,” or Middle East, refers to a region primarily located at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe. It encompasses countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the Gulf states, among others. The term is often used to describe the geographic, cultural, and political landscape of these countries, which share historical, religious, and economic ties. The region is known for its significant historical importance, being home to some of the world’s earliest civilizations and major world religions, including Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. The Middle East has also been a focal point of numerous geopolitical conflicts and economic interests, particularly related to oil production and trade. The term “Moyen-Orient” is predominantly used in French and has similar connotations to its English equivalent, “Middle East.”
