Hezbollah

Hezbollah, also known as the Party of God, is a Shiite Islamist political and militant organization based in Lebanon. Founded in the early 1980s in response to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, Hezbollah aims to establish an Islamic state in Lebanon and oppose Western influence in the region, particularly that of the United States and Israel. It is both a political party, with significant representation in the Lebanese parliament, and a paramilitary organization, noted for its military strength and involvement in regional conflicts. Hezbollah’s activities include social services, political campaigning, and engagement in armed conflict, notably against Israel. The group has been labeled a terrorist organization by some countries and organizations, while others view it as a legitimate resistance movement.
