OTAN

OTAN is the French acronym for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which is an intergovernmental military alliance established in 1949. Its primary purpose is to ensure collective defense among its member countries against external aggression. NATO operates on the principle of collective security, where an attack against one member is considered an attack against all members. This organization was formed in the context of the Cold War to provide a counterbalance to the Soviet Union and its allies. Over the years, NATO has expanded to include numerous countries across Europe and North America, adapting its role to address emerging security challenges, such as terrorism and cyber threats.
