Sécurité nationale

“Sécurité nationale” translates to “national security” in English. It refers to the protection and defense of a nation-state, its citizens, and its interests from external threats, such as military attacks, terrorism, espionage, and other dangers. National security encompasses a broad range of activities and policies aimed at safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the well-being of its populace. It involves the coordination of various government agencies, including the military, intelligence services, law enforcement, and diplomatic efforts, to create a comprehensive strategy for maintaining the safety and stability of the nation. The concept also extends to economic security, cyber security, and environmental security, reflecting the interconnected nature of contemporary threats. National security policies can significantly influence a nation’s foreign relations and domestic law enforcement, often leading to debates about the balance between security measures and civil liberties.
